Story

Working in mental health has been a real eye opener to the extent and scale of modern slavery. Trauma is so complex and remains long after victims have fled to safety. One in four victims of human trafficking are children and 70 percent are women and girls. Murders are commonplace and violence is a way of life. Innocent people are taken, destroyed and discarded. When you’re a slave, you don’t get to celebrate your birthday. That’s why this year as my birthday approaches, rather than ask for gifts I’m asking for help to bring freedom to those affected. Your gift will help Justice and Care track down victims and those responsible. They also help fund vital psychotherapy including paying for transport, childcare and interpreting services to make this possible so that victims can begin to heal and reclaim their lives. Whether you donate what you would normally spend on my card/present or the cost of a birthday drink, anything you can give will make a difference. Thanks in advance, Ad

  • £100 can help provide essential training to the police officers, prosecutors and the judiciary to help ensure those responsible for trafficking are brought to justice
