My London Marathon 2022

I am running the London Marathon before I am too decrepit to do so, and also to raise funds for the amazing work that Justice and Care do. Work that is much closer to home than many of us realise...

Story

There are an estimated 40 million people living in slavery worldwide - at least 100,000 in the UK alone. Modern slavery is the fastest growing crime in the world.

I refuse to stand by and do nothing, which is why I'm taking part in the TCS London Marathon in support of Justice & Care, an award-winning anti-slavery charity that is bringing freedom to those living in the grip of slavery and empowering them to rebuild their lives.

Justice & Care support victims like Helena*, who was trafficked to the UK into sexual exploitation. She was moved between brothels across numerous cities for nearly three years and forced to work without a break day after day. After being rescued by the police, one of Justice & Care's Victim Navigators assisted Helena into safe accommodation, helped her to access trauma-informed counselling and supported her to provide critical evidence to the police, which then led to other victims being rescued.

Helena said: "You are the first person in a long time that has helped me believe something can be changed."

Everything you give will help the work of Justice & Care. Your contribution will help make a difference in their work in the UK, mainland Europe and Asia and will spur me on!

Together, let's give the gift of freedom.
