Story
Although I might currently be stuck in self-isolation and my physical freedom has to some extent been reduced, there are millions of people across the world who are trapped, exploited, raped, enslaved and have ZERO freedom or autonomy over their own lives. Coronavirus can not distract us from remembering those who are trapped in the grip of modern slavery. When you’re a child abused in a brothel or working 18 hours days in a blisteringly hot factory, you don’t get to celebrate your birthday. That’s why this year as my big day approaches, rather than ask for gifts or a drink at the pub I’m asking you to help bring freedom to those trapped in slavery. Your gift will help Justice and Care rescue and care for survivors and track down those responsible. Anything you can give will make a difference.
- £15 could pay for a simple hygiene pack for someone who has just been rescued from slavery in the UK
- £50 could help provide access to therapeutic services, helping a survivor come to terms with their experience
- £100 can help provide essential training to the police officers, prosecutors and the judiciary to help ensure those responsible for trafficking are brought to justice
